Work on Sunday and Monday were pretty much the same. The only thing of
not e was the fact that I stayed for almost the entirety of my shifts on
both days. Hours picking up? I hope so!
Sunday I had an episode.
And by that I mean I cried because I didn't know there was going to be a
'Walking Dead' marathon until the new episode aired at nine. I ended up
missing episode 7, for the second time, and was so upset and frustrated
that I wouldn't be able to watch it or the newer ones until DVD,
ensuring I was behind everyone once again.
Thankfully, I was
saved by Kara, who found me a site to download episode 7 on, so I was
able to watch that and then watch the newest one at 11.
During work on Monday, I got some super cute texts from John:

I should say that the first of those texts was completely out of the blue. They made me blush like mad.
He calls me his "kitten" :3
I
haven't done much this Valentine's Day, though I did hit the gym and
watch one of my Netflix films; 'Ravenous'. I...I don't...I don't even. I
didn't like it, that's all I can say.
I just made chicken and pasta for dinner and oh my God it's delicious. I'm not even bragging, I did a fucking phenomenal job.
Work again tomorrow, 12-8 this time.

What's the one movie you can watch again and again without getting sick of it, regardless of the last time you watched it?
Hmm, this is a good question. I have a lot of those [since I'm a big movie person}, but probably it would have to be either the original Star Wars trilogy or Tombstone. They're just so well made as films, and I have yet to get tired of them, despite watching them at least twice a year since I was seven years old.
A new year already?
So, since it's a new year, I need to seriously focus on updating this thing more. I need to focus on more important things first, obviously, but my readers {how few there are of you}...I have an obligation, damn it!
I took a count, which took awhile, and I watched 191 films last year. That's about 15 films or so a month. I also read 32 books, which is about 2 books a month. One of my goals for this year is to read 50 books, and so far, I have read one this year; Dealing With Dragons by Patricia C. Wrede. It's a re-read, but it's something, I suppose.
I feel like watching 191 movies in a year has to be a record of some sort. As it is, I'm well on my way to blowing it out of the water. So far this year, I've watched 8 films. 8 films in 6 days. I know I could try harder, but since moving up to New Hampshire, my movie-watching has declined significantly. Probably because I have to choose between the internet and a movie, where I didn't have to down in Maryland. There's no wireless in this house, unfortunately, because of the mountains. Hopefully, I can get that 100 or 150 foot USB cable and bring myself out into the living room, or even my own room, and get to watching and interneting at the same time again.

And we're back...but for how long?
General Blogging
Well, things have changed quite a lot since my last post. When was that? May? June? In a nutshell, I had 3 jobs and an insane amount of stress. My friend moved in, which didn't really go according to plan/how we hoped it would go. I'm moving to New Hampshire on the 25th of September {12 days!} and have been under an AMAZINGLY huge amount of stress because of all of this. Did I mention that? I think I did.
Thankfully, though, I don't work anywhere again until sometime after I get to New Hampshire, thereby allowing me to wrap up things in Maryland, continue packing, pay bills and change my address for everything pertinent in my life.

-Stephen King's The Dark Tower series is going to be getting both a movie and a TV treatment. Words can't express how happy I am...or was until I realized that Ron Howard has directed both 'Angels and Demons' and 'The DaVinci Code'. Eeee.
I can't think of a better way to present the material, though, so I'm happy with this outcome. Now I just need to see if the casting will cause me to rage or not.
Actor News:
-There was a possibility that Martin Freeman would be playing Bilbo Baggins in the 'Hobbit' films. Apparently, this was a rumor, and it's not going to happen. While I like him as an actor, I cannot see him as Bilbo. My top two choices for Bilbo are either Simon Pegg or Michael Sheen. Considering how well the Lord of the Rings films were cast, I know I probably won't have anything to worry about.

'Going the Distance'
Directed by Nanette Burstein, and starring Drew Barrymore, Justin Long, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis and Christina Applegate, the film is about a couple, Garrett {Justin Long} and Erin {Drew Barrymore} whose one-night stand turns into a long term relationship, and eventually a long-distance one when she has to move from New York back to San Francisco to finish her last year of grad school. Unlike most chick flicks, guys could like this and probably would. It's a little cruder than I was expecting, but that was refreshing. Justin Long and Drew Barrymore were a cute couple {especially since they did/are dating/I don't even know in real life} and most of all believable.
The supporting cast of Jason Sudeikis, Charlie Day and Christina Applegate were amazing, as well, which was a nice change, especially since most supporting actors in a romantic comedy can fade into the background.
Overall, I give it an A-. It felt a bit long in some parts, but at just under 2 hours, it's almost a new phenomenon in movies today.
Grade: A-

In Cold Blood by Truman Capote
After watching 'Capote' for the third or fourth time, I figured it was time to read the book. I'd never read anything of Capote's before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. He was an amazingly talented writer, and I fully intend on getting more of his books. The book was one of the first true crime novels ever written, about the deaths of the Clutter family in 1959 in Kansas and the subsequent tracking, capture and execution of their killers; Perry Smith and Richard "Dick" Hickock.
The book, while not a quick read, moves along very steadily, and never once did I lose interest in the story or what was going on. One thing that struck me was that the more I read about the killers, I felt a mixture of disgust, horror and sympathy. In 'Capote', Truman says to Perry that he doesn't want the world to see him "as a monster". And it's no small feat that Capote has managed to humanize the killers,and Perry especially, since he was the one who killed the entire family. And even after reading, and realizing that Perry was a sociopath, I still manage to feel sympathy for him because of the atrocious upbringing he had. It's no excuse for what he did, but in a way...I guess I can understand it more. He said to Truman, "They [The Clutters] never hurt me. Like other people. Like people have all my life. Maybe it's just that the Clutters were the ones who had to pay for it."
I feel it's a book everyone should read.
Grade: A+

While not a new band, Metric have become one of my new favorites. I fully recommend buying their album 'Fantasies', released last year, or even just listening to the song they contributed for the 'Scott Pilgrim' soundtrack. Emily Haines' voice is a thing of beauty, and I look forward to seeing her and the band perform in October as Muse's opening band.
Well, things have changed quite a lot since my last post. When was that? May? June? In a nutshell, I had 3 jobs and an insane amount of stress. My friend moved in, which didn't really go according to plan/how we hoped it would go. I'm moving to New Hampshire on the 25th of September {12 days!} and have been under an AMAZINGLY huge amount of stress because of all of this. Did I mention that? I think I did.
Thankfully, though, I don't work anywhere again until sometime after I get to New Hampshire, thereby allowing me to wrap up things in Maryland, continue packing, pay bills and change my address for everything pertinent in my life.

What was your favorite movie as a child?
I had a few; 'Mulan', 'Ferngully', 'Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland' and 'Aladdin'. 'Mulan' and 'Aladdin' have stood the test of time. 'Ferngully' I have no desire to see ever again, and I recently re-watched 'Little Nemo'...I feel genuine sorrow for my parents having to be subjected to it so many times.

Clifton Collins Jr. picspam
If you haven't seen any of the films this guy has been in {'Capote', 'Star Trek' {he was the 2nd in command Romulan named Ayel}, 'Traffic', 'Babel', 'Tigerland', 'Rules of Attraction', 'Boondock Saints II' {he's really the only good thing about the film}...I could go on}, you really owe it to yourself to do so. He's PHENOMENAL and deserves every acting accolade I can think of.

If we die, we die together
Hmm, well, it seems my promise to once again not neglect this has been broken. Life gets in the way, okay? I can't just jump through hoops for people and post all the time. Even my LJ and my food blog have been suffering thanks to the schedule I'm on.
My weekdays are thus:
-7:15 AM: Wake up, get dressed, grab something quick for breakfast
-8:15 AM: In Starbucks in Greenbelt for my additional, or second, breakfast of a tall hot chocolate and a blueberry scone/Mallorca sweet bread/plain bagel with cream cheese, while I read a large book to wile away the minutes
-9:15 AM: Clock into work
-9:30-9:55 AM: Unload the stock truck
-10:30/10:45-11:45 AM: Put out stock onto sales floor
-11:50-12:30/1:30 PM: Unload boxes
-1:30-1:45/1:45-2 PM: 15 minute break
-1:45/2PM: Back to work hanging clothes
-2:45: Put out clothes onto sales floor
-3 PM: So long, suckers!
I don't work my second job until Fridays, and that's always 4-9. Some days, I drop Mom off at her second job and then go to the gym at my school for an hour {sometimes a little less} and roleplay/watch movies. I also do this on days when she's not at her second job.
Weekends are strictly me time, where I can sleep in and stay in my pajamas all day.
I am thankful for the 3 day weekend I have this time around. Thanks to Memorial Day on Monday, we get no stock truck, so the stock associates don't have to come in. Bliss!
In Other News:
*I have yet another celebrity crush to add to the growing multitude of them. Michael Sheen is a god among men, and I try as hard as I can to block out that he was in the Underworld films {though I loved the 1st one for awhile} and the new Twilight movies {JUST...NO}, despite the fact he looks fine as fuck as a werewolf.
Awww yeah.
Normally, he's a talented actor in films such as 'The Music Within' {he plays a man with cerebral palsy}, 'The Queen', 'Frost/Nixon', 'The Damned United' and has guest starred as one of my favorite TV characters ever on '30 Rock'. And through it all, he has retained that charming geekiness.

Also, I firmly believe he should be the person playing Bilbo Baggins in 'The Hobbit'. Who can I talk to to make this happen?
*I'm currently trying to save up for a trip to Florida in October for the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot. It'll be my 3rd time going to Disney World, and I predict this one will be even better than the last. Chief among those reasons is because it's much less expensive than the last trip, we're flying this time, and because I can drink if I like {I will be}.
There was talk about a tequila tasting, in between all the wine and food tastings, so that should be interesting.
*Muse's new song 'Neutron Star Collision' is on the 'Eclipse ' soundtrack {3rd in the 'Twilight' series}, and even though the song is legit cheesy and sappy, and I get blinded by rage if I have to recall what it's associated with, I love this song.
And speaking of Muse, I'm seeing them for the 5th time in October, after the Florida trip, in Virginia with my very good friend Davey, who is moving here from Kentucky on June 3rd. We plan to meet them after the show, and I hope we are successful in this venture.

Well, despite my best efforts, I have once again begun neglecting this thing. This time letting two months go by before I make a real blog post. When I use my Livejournal {see, Tim, not only Russians and emos use LJ still}, I use it as my diary, and to mainly help me keep track of all the things I do on a given day/week/whenever I update it. As it is, I can barely remember to make a daily post on that thing, so this gets more neglect.
I'm sorry little blogger. As Muse say, this is the last time I'll abandon you.

Most Recent Movie(s) I've Seen in Theatres:
'Iron Man 2'
Directed by Jon Favreau, starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell and Scarlett Johannson {ew}. I don't consider myself a huge comic book fan, and certainly not a comic book movie fan {mainly the Marvel films, since they tend to suck}. Considering what we've been given over the last few years; the X-Men films {awful}, the Spiderman films {alright but not the best}, the Fantastic Four films {never seen, but in my opinion they didn't look that good} and the Hulk films {haven't seen the one with Eric Bana, but I enjoyed the one with Edward Norton}, the Iron Man films were like a breath of fresh air. I absolutely loved the first one and had high to middling hopes for the second one.
It didn't disappoint. The action was great, the dialogue was awesome, especially between Tony and Pepper. Robert Downey Jr. was amazing. He's always good, but he's become a hugely favorite actor of mine. And not just because I think he's gorgeous beyond belief. I liked him a lot in 'Zodiac', and he hadn't even blipped on my radar yet.
The only issues I had were the villain/villains; Whiplash and Justin Hammer. It seemed like they could have just gone with one or the other of them. It was nowhere near as bad as the trifecta of villains in 'Spiderman 3', though. I also had an issue with the inclusion of Scarlett as the Black Widow. She seemed very unnecessary, especially since we never found out who she was, aside from her name.
Those things aside, I loved the movie, and can't wait to see it again.

Most Recent Book(s) I've Finished:
The Chronicles of Chrestomanci, Volume 2: The Magicians of Caprona / Witch Week by Diana Wynne Jones
After starting this book in August of last year, I got pretty far into it, and then promptly set it aside after I started to get busier/started reading other books. Anyone who's reading this/knows me should know that I am a particularly voracious reader. As it is currently, I am reading seven books at the same time.
Anyway, all of that aside, I very much enjoyed this book. Diana Wynne Jones is always put in the young adult section of the bookstores, next to the plethora of teenaged vampire and other supernatural books. And I agree that she is a young adult writer, but she is one of the better and more accessible ones out there today.
The stories contained in the book take place in two of the nine worlds in this universe. Every person has one life in each world, and witchcraft is very common among them, though is it not in every one. Chrestomanci is a title bestowed on an enchanter with nine lives, meaning that instead of having one life in each world, he has nine in only one. This distinguishes him as a very powerful enchanter, and the only person who is able to make sure the magical balance in each world stays as it is.
The Magicians of Caprona and Witch Week, while not as compelling as the two books in volume one; Charmed Life {which got me into Wynne Jones} and The Lives of Christopher Chant, are still good reads, and will keep you interested throughout the story. The characters, mostly children or teenagers, are written well and feel very real. They grow and change as the stories progress and you can see it as you read it.
Grade: A-

The action was great, the dialogue was awesome, especially between Tony and Pepper. Robert Downey Jr. was amazing. He's always good, but he's become a hugely favorite actor of mine. And not just because I think he's gorgeous beyond belief. I liked him a lot in 'Zodiac', and he hadn't even blipped on my radar yet.
The only issues I had were the villain/villains; Whiplash and Justin Hammer. It seemed like they could have just gone with one or the other of them. It was nowhere near as bad as the trifecta of villains in 'Spiderman 3', though. I also had an issue with the inclusion of Scarlett as the Black Widow. She seemed very unnecessary, especially since we never found out who she was, aside from her name.
Those things aside, I loved the movie, and can't wait to see it again.

The Chronicles of Chrestomanci, Volume 2: The Magicians of Caprona / Witch Week by Diana Wynne Jones
After starting this book in August of last year, I got pretty far into it, and then promptly set it aside after I started to get busier/started reading other books. Anyone who's reading this/knows me should know that I am a particularly voracious reader. As it is currently, I am reading seven books at the same time.Anyway, all of that aside, I very much enjoyed this book. Diana Wynne Jones is always put in the young adult section of the bookstores, next to the plethora of teenaged vampire and other supernatural books. And I agree that she is a young adult writer, but she is one of the better and more accessible ones out there today.
The stories contained in the book take place in two of the nine worlds in this universe. Every person has one life in each world, and witchcraft is very common among them, though is it not in every one. Chrestomanci is a title bestowed on an enchanter with nine lives, meaning that instead of having one life in each world, he has nine in only one. This distinguishes him as a very powerful enchanter, and the only person who is able to make sure the magical balance in each world stays as it is.
The Magicians of Caprona and Witch Week, while not as compelling as the two books in volume one; Charmed Life {which got me into Wynne Jones} and The Lives of Christopher Chant, are still good reads, and will keep you interested throughout the story. The characters, mostly children or teenagers, are written well and feel very real. They grow and change as the stories progress and you can see it as you read it.
