While I’ve never seen a single episode of ‘The A-Team’, this looks retardedly awesome, and I have to see it. Plus, any excuse to look at shirtless Bradley Cooper is a good one. I also enjoy that Liam Neeson and Sharlto Copley are in it. Particularly that this is Sharlto’s second film.

Movie News: -On Wednesday, the Academy Awards' "visual effects branch announced on Wednesday that the shortlist of 15 movies, released in mid-December, has been whittled down to seven films.
"Avatar" heads the alphabetic list, followed by "District 9," "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," "Star Trek," "Terminator Salvation," "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" and "2012." No longer in contention are: "Angels & Demons," "Coraline," "Disney's A Christmas Carol," "G-Force," "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra," "Sherlock Holmes," "Watchmen" and "Where the Wild Things Are."
Okay. Everyone is creaming themselves over 'Avatar', and I have to say, it deserves the attention it got for the visual effects, but why would you take out other films like 'Watchmen' and 'Where the Wild Things Are'? They have amazing special effects. 'Transformers'? Really? You can't tell what the fuck is going on half the time! 'Star Trek'? I'm sorry, but it's full of lens-flares, and while that's nice, it's not exactly something I would have picked for being nominated for visual effects. 'Terminator: Salvation'? REALLY? It was a good movie, but mediocre in almost every aspect, so why it's on there, I have no idea.
Why 'G-Force' and 'G.I. Joe' were even on this list is beyond me. Same with 'Sherlock Holmes' {What amazing visual effects were in the movie?}, though I liked the movie very much.
I really hope, thought I doubt this will happen, that 'District 9' wins for visual effects. I know it's an incredible long shot, but I am so sick of hearing about 'Avatar' at this point that I don't care
Actor News: -Peter Sarsgaard is set to be the villain in the upcoming 'Green Lantern' movie. According to this article, he's "in talks to play Dr. Hector Hammond. Here's the first place we're seeing Martin Campbell's Lantern split from the comic book canon. In the comics, Hammond is simply a petty criminal who stumbles on a meteor that all around it with superpowers. He promptly captures some scientists and exposes them to it, and sells all their amazing inventions as his own. Eventually, he became a big-headed superbeing who could enforce his will on others. In the film, Hammond will be a doctor. He's a a brilliant pathologist but seen as an utter failure by his senator father. He discovers a meteor that grants him psychic powers. I'm sure he'll turn those powers to profit, become corrupted, and catch the all-policing eye of Hal Jordan. Then he'll become obsessed with obtaining godlike powers just to defeat Hal Jordan. You can give a man a doctorate, but you can't take away his baser motivations, can you?
Few play brainy evil as well as Sarsgaard, so I think he's a great pick. He certainly adds some dramatic weight to the movie. But it still hinges on Sinestro because whoever they cast now has to outmenace Sarsgaard."
I'm glad he's getting more work. I need more of Peter Sarsgaard in my life.

General Blogging My top artists on LastFM for the last week have been Lady Gaga, Muse, Ludacris, Adam Lambert, Robert Downey Jr., Rufus Wainwright, Papa Roach, Bon Iver, Smashing Pumpkins, The Gits, Rammstein, Lostprophets, Bright Eyes, Placebo and Patrick Wolf. That's a weird mix if I ever saw one. All I need is some country music up in there and I'm good to go with eclecticity, if I can use that word.
I went to DC with Rebekah and her boyfriend Ryan today, and even though our objective was to go to the Natural History Museum, all we really did was walk through one of the Natural History Museum's halls and try to find a place to eat. We went to the National Art Gallery and then finally walked down to Independence Avenue and found a Quizno's.
A JEH podcast was attempted when I returned home, but thanks to technology fail, it had to be rescheduled.
News/Stuff About Celebrities and Movies/Music/TV Shows/etc. Actor News: -MTV is calling Sam Worthington the new Leonardo DiCaprio. This article offers all the evidence you might need to either reject or support this claim.
I personally don't agree with this summation. While both have the eye-candy and desirability factor going for them, I think Leo's a much better actor. Sam's not bad, but if he's going to be called the "next Leonardo DiCaprio", he has a long way to go, acting-wise. Now, admittedly, I've only seen 'Terminator: Salvation' and 'Avatar', and he does put his heart into the roles, one detrimental thing of Sam stands out immediately; he needs to maintain control of the accent he's put on for the roles. I've never had to sustain an accent different from my own for more than two minutes, let alone the entirety of a movie/TV show, but Leo did it quite well in 'Blood Diamond'. Hugh Laurie does an amazing job of it in 'House', and Tim Roth does a really good job of it in quite a few of his movies.
Even Heath Ledger was able to put his Aussie accent to the side for almost every movie he was in and maintain a believable American accent. David Anders, who was Mr. Sark in 'Alias' and Adam Monroe/Takezo Kensei in 'Heroes', had a hell of a British accent, to the point where I thought that he was British, and was astonished to learn he was American.
So, to get to my actual point; I think Sam has potential, as far as acting goes, but he has a long way to go before he can be called the "next Leo DiCaprio", or really the next anyone.

-According to wenn.org {I can't find the article or I would link it here}, the following is happening; The executors of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's literary estate have threatened to withdraw Guy Ritchie's rights to the Sherlock Holmes story if the director hints at a homosexual relationship between the lead characters in his sequel.
Robert Downey, Jr., who plays the supersleuth in Ritchie's new movie adaption, recently appeared on David Letterman's U.S. talk show and hinted at a homoerotic subtext in the relationship between his character and Jude Law's Dr. Watson.
During the interview the actor also asked the audience to decide whether Holmes is "a very butch homosexual."
But Downey, Jr.'s comments have infuriated Andrea Plunket, who controls the remaining U.S. copyrights to the Holmes story, and she's threatened to withdraw permission for a follow-up if Ritchie suggests the detective is more than just friends with his sidekick.
She says, "I hope this is just an example of Mr Downey's black sense of humour. It would be drastic, but I would withdraw permission for more films to be made if they feel that is a theme they wish to bring out in the future. I am not hostile to homosexuals, but I am to anyone who is not true to the spirit of the books."
Uhm...no matter how much you sugar coat it, or deny it, you are being hostile to homosexuals with this statement. I do not personally see the ~subtext in the movie, but I can see where people are coming from.
-IMDB is a bitch and spoiled a major plot point from season 4 of 'Dexter' for me in a news article about 'Desperate Housewives'. I can't be the only person who hasn't seen season 4!

Megan's Top Favorite Films of 2009
10. 'Terminator: Salvation'. I went into this film expecting to hate it with a passion. I was never very big into 'Terminator', but I love the first movie. I haven't seen the second one in years, and so don't remember much about it. I never saw the 3rd one, but have been told I'm better off for not doing so. This surprised me with how intense it was, and how terrible it wasn't. No, it's not the best in the series, or even in the tops for the series, but it's enjoyable, and most of the time, I ask for at least that in a movie I'm paying $8 to see.
9. 'Paranormal Activity'. This is one of those movies where the filmmakers could do everything right or everything wrong. Thankfully, it was in the former category. It's not as scary as the trailers make it out to be, but there were parts where I was pretty terrified. It's been a very long time since I've seen a good psychological horror movie. You know a movie is scary if I have to call a friend on the drive home so I won't be "alone" when I walk into a dark house.
8. 'Star Trek'. I am not a Trekkie at all, and I found this very enjoyable. The chemistry of the cast was incredible, and they embodied their characters very well. Even for non-fans like me, I was able to determine who was who pretty easily, and follow the story as well.
7. 'Sherlock Holmes'. I went back and forth in liking this, but I'm glad I gave it a chance because it was absolutely enjoyable and I had a lot of fun while watching it. I hope they do more with this series, and I take back everything I said about Robert Downey Jr. not being right for the part of Sherlock.
6. 'District 9'. Best sci-fi movie I've ever seen. Hands down. And I'm not a big fan of aliens.
5. 'The Hangover'. Funniest comedy of the year, and surprisingly, the highest grossing R-rated film ever. There's already a sequel in the works, even before the movie hit theatres.
4. 'The Hurt Locker'. I don't actively seek out war movies, but this, as well as 'The Kingdom', from 2007, is one of the best that have come out in recent years. This is a white-knuckler movie in every sense of the word. The tension builds and builds, and then abates before building some more. It never really goes away, either, unt
3. 'Zombieland'. Probably my favourite zombie flick of all time. It's funny and creepy in the right places and the right amounts. All the characters were very likable, and brought the right amount of emotion you'd expect, and want, in a horror comedy zombie film.
2. 'Watchmen'. I might a little biased, since this is my favourite graphic novel, but this is without a doubt, the best comic book movie ever made. It stayed as true to the source material as it could, without being slavish, and also added a few little things of its own, without detracting from the original source material. And honestly? I preferred the ending of the movie as opposed to the ending of the novel. Psychic squid? Really?
1. Up'. The best movie Pixar has ever done. Hands down. It has everything you could want; humour, action, an emotionally draining opening {I swear, I've never seen an opening as depressing as 'Up' in any kid's movie, or maybe any movie}, and cute secondary characters. And as a bonus, the main kid is not annoying whatsoever, which is often a problem in kid's movies.
Honorable Mentions
-'Taken'. Hereto known as the movie that made Liam Neeson an action star, and made throat chopping a new cool way to take down one's enemies.
-'Adventureland'. I went in expecting a silly comedy, and got to see a pretty decently made character drama. I would recommend this, even if you don't like Kristen Stewart.

8. 'Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day'. I know, I know. A sequel to one of the best cult films out there? What're they thinking? Well, that's exactly what went through my mind, but I still wanted to see it. Overall, it was a good effort, but it in no way captured the flavour or humour of the original film, and I don't think anything actually could.
7. 'The Ugly Truth'. 'The Proposal' wasn't some amazing movie, but this could've been a lot better. In the end, it just became a substandard romantic comedy.
6. 'I Love You, Man'. While not a terrible movie, it was nowhere near as funny or as good as I was hoping and expecting. With actors like Paul Rudd and Jason Segel in a movie, you expect it to be rip-roaringly hilarious. Not so.
5. 'Brüno;. I'm not a Sasha Baron Cohen fan by any means, but this looked a lot funnier than 'Borat' was. And while, yes it was funnier than 'Borat', it was still ridiculous and just this side of bad.
4. 'Law Abiding Citizen'. This was not a bad movie, but not a good one, either. It was nice to be able to root for the bad guy for once.
3. 'The International'. I had seen 'Taken' prior to this, and the movie trailers and posters made it look incredibly electrifying and action packed. There is one action scene in the entire movie, and the rest of it is Clive Owen trying to take down the big bad bankers in Europe. Kind of a yawn-fest, honestly. I couldn't wait to leave the theatre.
2. 'The Informant!'. This could've and should've been a lot better than it was, but throughout it, I was not interested in the character and his "struggles". By the end, I kind of wanted him to go away forever.
1. 'Public Enemies'. I was expecting this to be amazing, but was incredibly disappointed. It dragged and dragged, and about, at least an hour and ten minutes in, my friend Bekah and I looked at each other and shook our heads. The pacing was bad, the plot was bad, and the cinematography looked...you know how when you watch a movie, you know you're watching a movie? And you know how when you watch a home video someone recorded on a shaky camcorder and is bragging about how great their camera skills are? Yeah, it was like the second one. It looked unfinished, and that was incredibly apparent in the high definition it was supposed to be in.

The Day So Far I woke up today at 10:55, after resetting my alarm at 10:45, and didn't know so many things could go wrong within the space of about 15 minutes. Dad called, so I got to talk to him for a bit. While I was on the phone with him, I was making my breakfast; Frosted Flakes. When I poured the milk from the last of the 1/2 gallon over it, it was chunky. So, I tossed a whole bowl of cereal in the garbage. My second try was almost worse, since, though the sell by date was today, it had gone off. I smelled it, but sometimes milk just smells gross. So, I poured a little into a glass and took a sip. It tasted weird and then when I tasted it again, I was almost sick.
So, yes, definitely sour milk. FUUUH.
I worked with Ben and am now relaxing at home before Derek's Halloween party.
News/Stuff About Celebrities and Movies/Music/TV Shows/etc. Movie News: According to Daniel Craig, the next James Bond film is scheduled to begin filming sometime next year. I for one am excited at the thought of another Bond film. At least, one with Mr. Craig in it, since he's my favourite Bond {granted, the only other movie with someone else playing Bond in it I've seen has been 'The Spy Who Loved Me', with Roger Moore...truly awful}.
TV News: According to this article, and Lauren's blog from today, the 10th season of 'Red Dwarf' will launch the 10th season of the show shortly. Now, though this is one of my most favourite television shows ever {I got into it in 5th grade, and have been hooked ever since}, there's a few things wrong with this: -I don't recall them having a 9th season. Unless you count 'Back to Earth', the recent TV special they did {and I do NOT count that}. -All of the actors, with the exception of Danny John-Jules {The Cat} and Robert Llewelyn {who has prosthetics put over his face for every episode as Kryten}, are WAY too old to be playing their roles. Chris Barrie and Craig Charles do not look convincing as Lister and Rimmer anymore, and they look more like they want to take a shower and listen to records all evening with wine in their hand while they fall asleep in their armchairs. And, I wasn't aware holograms aged. -The 7th season of 'Red Dwarf' was almost unbearable, once they reintroduced Kochanski {Lister's recurring love interest from the first season, whom he never actually got together with}, one of the most insipid and annoying characters ever. Or maybe it's just because I didn't like the actress. Whatever the reason, they were really trying to make the show funny in season 7, and I just wasn't feeling it. Season 8 picked up a lot, but comes nowhere near the genius of seasons 3-6.
See? Even they don't look happy about the new show, and this picture is easily 15 years old. Let's not sully the original memory of this show.
I thank all the Gods that actually do exist that the American pilot of 'Red Dwarf' never actually got off the ground.

I'm just this side of interested in the show, aside from the fact that I really dislike the main character. Joss need to stop making his main female characters like Buffy/River {really the same person in some aspects}, and make them NORMAL women. He had it right with Kaylee, I think.

I can barely contain the excitement I feel about this...though I am hoping they have him speak in a British accent. He sounds weird when he's speaking in his normal American voice. Sad to say, but it's true.
Movie News- Mockery of the Week: Diablo Cody, owner of one of the most annoying names ever, may be writing a Hugh Hefner biopic, which may or may not be starring Leonardo DiCaprio or Robert Downey Jr. as Hefner. Am I one of the only people who thinks she should just go away for awhile? What she's going to do is make this a "snappy, witty" movie about the Playboy magnate. It's going to be 'Juno' meets porn. I didn't mind the writing in 'Juno', but she made the character into an unlikable brat.
Most Recent Movie(s)/TV Show(s) I've Seen At Home: Season 1 of 'Lie to Me*', starring Tim Roth, Kelli Williams, Brendan Hines and Monica Raymund {who was fresh out of Juilliard when she began acting on this show}. I first heard of this show when I found out David Anders was going to be on the 2nd episode, and so watched it. Aside from the fact that he was on it, I was struck by how good the show was; the writing, the chemistry between the actors, the plots, etc. While some of the episodes' endings may be a little predictable, it's still one of the best TV shows on the air right now. I'm looking forward to the second season coming out on Monday. I will, unfortunately, have to wait until the next day to watch the show.

I recommend the album 'The Sunset Tree', though the album is about child abuse {the singer's suffered at the hands of his stepfather}, it's raw and biting, and one of my favourite albums this year.
They certainly will, Moss. Title is from 'The IT Crowd'. The Day So Far I hung out with Ben Moy all day watching 'The IT Crowd'. I bought the first two seasons at Best Buy, as well as the Watchmen game for the XBox...despite the fact I don't have one. We played the demo and then went on an "adventure" to Game Stop and Target to try and find it. No such luck until later in the evening.
Next on the buying list is a 360...but I am going to wait until they're $250 I think.

WTF of the Week: There's....there's not much I can really say about this that isn't painfully obvious to everyone. Except, of course, to the makers of this product. WHO thought it would be a good idea to make a buttplug for children that turns your poop into different shapes?! And WHO thought it would be a idea to market this?! I tell you what, if my parents tried to give this to me {any parent who does should have their children taken away from them}, I would have rebelled so hard. I think I'm confident in saying that most adults, most, do not want things shoved up their ass, so I'm sure no child want it either! Even if it does make your poop into a star shape.
