The Day So Far
I worked with Ben Moy from 12-3, and then Tim came in for the last hour. I had Chinese food for lunch and read some more of The Chronicles of Chrestomanci, Volume 2: The Magicians of Caprona and Witch Week. I've been trying to get through this book most of the summer, but others keep popping up and getting in the way.
It's been a pretty low-key day so far, and I'm glad for that. I should try and get some Math stuff done {in the form of studying/reviewing}.

'The Familiar Taste of Poison' by Halestorm. I found this by accident on a Dean/Castiel site {SHUT UP! I was just LOOKING!!} and someone made a video for them to this song. The video was eh, and I think that's my one and only foray into Dean/Castiel {though Castiel TOTALLY wants Dean...he practically eye fucks him every time they see each other}, I liked the song enough to download it.

Uhm...yeah. It's Talk Like a Pirate Day, and he looks most like a pirate in 'Maniac Cop 3'. Unfortunately, this is probably as close as we will get to him playing a pirate. Unless they recruit him for 'Pirates of the Carribean 5: Search For El Dorado' or 'Pirates of the Carribean 6: Holy Fuck We're Still Making These Movies?'. I really hope neither one of those movies gets made, but you know how Hollywood is with cash cows. They milk them for all they're worth.And in other words....O face for the win.

Album Review:
Muse- The ResistanceI've listened to Muse's new album for the 5th time today and I'm finally, really starting to like it as a whole. I still don't feel it's that good of an album {in comparison to all their other albums, and the last three in particular}, but there's nothing bad about it. Even some of the songs/lyrics I'm not fond of are not bad, they're just kind of over the top. 'Uprising' is still my favourite track on the album, followed by 'Unnatural Selection', 'Resistance', 'United States of Eurasia (+Collateral Damage)', 'Exogenesis: Symphony Part 1', 'Part 2' and 'Part 3' and 'MK Ultra', Undisclosed Desires', 'I Belong To You' and 'Guiding Light'. I'm surprised to find I really am liking 'Eurasia' now, since when I first heard it, I really didn't. I think what helps it is to not listen to the words so much and to just let the music take you away.
On the whole, I'd give the whole album a B. I still feel that since they had 3 years to churn this thing out, they could have done a MUCH better job, but even by any standards you want to give, it's still an artistically sound album. Not every album by my favourite band will be good, but I guess because I loved all of their work so far {with the exception of one song}, I had high expectations. I think this ultimately is an album that will get better with each listen, and I'm looking forward to that happening to me, especially since almost everyone else I know LOVES this album to death.
All of the band really excelled here as far as musicality goes. Dom's drumming got really good on Black Holes and Revelations, but it really soars here. Chris is growing exponentially as a bassist, and Matt is just...he's Matt Bellamy. He's crazy good at the guitar and the piano and has one of the most distinctive voices in rock music today. I look forward to seeing them on tour, once they're not touring with U2 anymore {no offence on U2, but I'm not a fan and don't want to spend $60 or more just to see Muse play 9 songs and then leave the concert}.

The one thing that I keep coming back to that really bugs me about The Uprising is that it's even about what it seems to be about at all. I feel the lyrical substance of this album falls in line with similar ideas of so many others that it brings nothing else new to the table. I can understand WHY they want to say these things, but no why they feel the NEED to. These ideas are commonly understood. Muse blazes no lyrical trails with this album. Musically, however, that is a completely different story.
