"Touch each other in a celebratory way."

I haven't touched someone in a celebratory way in a long time. Title is from 'The IT Crowd'.

The Day So Far
Finally dragged myself out of bed after being up for a long time thinking about stuff, around noon. I'm now watching 'Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead' for the first time, and I am immensely enjoying Tim Roth in his Guildenstern costume.

*Coughs* Uhm. Yes.

I know I haven't updated this since October 2nd. Sorry. Life gets in the way sometimes, you know? Quick rundown: I met Billy Boyd and his band, got rid of a cold in 3 days, watched a ton of movies, got into two other TV shows {'30 Rock' and 'Fringe'} and am anxiously anticipating my vacation in December.

News/Stuff About Celebrities and Movies/Music/TV Shows/etc.
Most Recent Movie(s) I've Seen in Theatres:

'Zombieland'
Directed by Ruben Fleischer, starring Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin. Normally, I'm not a fan of zombie movies. Sure, I liked the remake of 'Dawn of the Dead', but I don't actively seek them out. And no, the '28 Days/Weeks Later' movies are NOT zombie films. I'm sorry, but they aren't. Zombies are reanimated corpses, and the people in those movies are just infected with a virus that makes them not want to do anything but attack and bite other people. They then ignore all of their base body instincts, eating in particular, and then die after about three weeks {if they're not killed} of starvation or dehydration.

Anyway...'Zombieland' was amazing. Really funny, and probably one of the best zombie movies I've ever seen. The cast had great chemistry, and Woody Harrelson was great as Tallahassee. Jesse Eisenberg has now become one of my favourite actors, not the least because he is a less annoying, WAY more tolerable version of Michael Cera, who I cannot stand and want to beat his skull in.

Go see the movie if you haven't already. It's good for both gorehounds, zombie lovers, and those who just like a good comedy.

Grade: A

'Law Abiding Citizen'
Directed by F. Gary Gray, starring Gerard Butler and Jaime Foxx. It was good, but I feel it could have been better. Gerard Butler was great as the villain. Though I think anti-villain/hero would be more appropriate. Yes, he's killing people, but it didn't bother me for some reason. It was nice to see him in a heavier role than just as the romantic interest in a rom-com or as a generic action guy. There were a few too many plot holes, as well. Normally, I'm willing to overlook them, but since they were so important, I don't understand how they could be ignored.

Grade: C

'Where the Wild Things Are'
Directed by Spike Jonze, starring Max Records, Catherine Keener, and the voice talents of Forest Whitaker, Lauren Ambrose, Paul Dano, Catherine O'Hara and Chris Cooper. The movie was very beautiful; the monsters looked just like I remembered them, but as a whole, I didn't like the movie that much and still don't understand the massive amount of hype surrounding this book/movie. Yes, I liked it when I was a kid, like I said before, but I was never crazy over it. I've been told by Ben Moy that I don't have a soul because I don't like Wallace and Gromitt {Yes. I know. Get over it.}, so I'm just wondering what people will say about me for not liking 'Where the Wild Things Are'. Probably something like, "You're the Devil."

Grade: C-

Most Recent Movie(s)/TV Show(s) I've Seen At Home:

'Dollhouse'
As a fan of Joss Whedon, I'd been looking forward to watching this show, despite the negative reviews I'd heard for it. I thought, "How bad could it be? Whedon shows and projects are funny and have good plots and snappy writing." I just barely got through the first episode, and the rest of the series, with the exception of episodes 11 and 12, kept me just this side of interested. I think part of the problem lay in the casting of Eliza Dushku as the main character. I don't really like her as an actress and she did not evoke any sympathy from me for her character, which she should have done. Everyone else in the show was a joy to watch, except her. The plot wasn't really that good, honestly, though the premise held incredible potential.

Grade: D

'30 Rock' season 1
One of the funniest TV shows I've seen in a long time, after 'The IT Crowd'. It's got the absurdity of 'Arrested Development', but upped by about 300. Tracey Morgan is insane, and Alec Baldwin has surprisingly wonderful comedic timing. Tina Fey is awkward and crazy, but she's great on this, too. I look forward to knowing what season 2 has in store for me.

Also, this show has a weird way of making a lot of people really attractive. Jason Sudeikis is quickly becoming a new crush of mine, and I didn't even realise I found him even remotely attractive. Will Arnett, too. Goddamn.

Funny Picture(s) I've Found:

The Song Currently Stuck In My Head:
'All is Love' by Karen O and the Kids from the 'Where the Wild Things Are' OST. I didn't like the movie, but I did enjoy the soundtrack a lot.

Jackie Earle Haley:

Look at that shirt! It's crazy!

Hot Guy Of the Day
Joshua Jackson

Quote of the Day
-Dr. Spaceman: "Boy, it's crazy to think we used to settle questions of paternity by dunking a woman in water until she admitted she made it all up. Hmm, different time in the '60s."

"That man...is a brownie hound."

I like brownies. Title is from 'The Breakfast Club'.

The Day So Far
I woke up at 12:30, put laundry in the washing machine and started watching 'The Breakfast Club' for the 3rd time. I've also had a banana for breakfast. If I had my car, I'd go out for lunch, but alas, the farthest I feel like walking is to either Main Street or to the 7-Eleven.

I had a dream I was the girlfriend of someone who looked suspiciously like Jason Segel. Mmmm.

News/Stuff About Celebrities and Movies/Music/TV Shows/etc.
Actor News:
There were rumours that Robert Downey Jr. would be playing Lestat in a new Vampire Chronicles movie. He has dismissed these rumours as being false. Honestly? I'm kind of glad. I cannot see RDJ as Lestat at all. I haven't seen 'Queen of the Damned', but I can't see Stuart Townsend as Lestat, either. As much as I dislike him as a person, Tom Cruise was a pretty good Lestat for a good adaptation of a subpar book.

And since we're on the subject of vampires, here are some people I think need to play vampires, and who would be exceptionally good at it.

-David Anders. He's pale, he's thin and he has a sinister look about him. He could be a good vampire, especially someone to have on your side.

-Matthew Goode. Think about it, you know in your heart of hearts he would make a superb vampire, and possible villain to boot. He's got the pale, thin thing going too, which is always helpful in a vampire.

-Jackie Earle Haley. Hell to the fuck yes. He'd be a pretty sexy vampire. And I'm not just saying it because just his SMILE gives me dirty thoughts. I want him in a classy vampire movie, though. Not this 'Twilight' or 'Underworld' shit.

Movie News- Mockery of the Week:
Now, just by looking at this poster, you can tell this movie will be a cinematic masterpiece. I mean, look at it! He's peeling away in a symbolic way. Not unlike a painting! WINK! How can it NOT be good?

In all seriousness, why are we continuing to make classic books into shitty movies? I can predict the rating for this movie even now on IMDB and on Rotten Tomatoes: a 6 or a 7. And if it's a 7, it'll be generous. Prince Caspian as a classic character like Dorian Gray? C'mon now.

Most Recent Movie(s) I've Seen At Home:

'Hellboy', directed by Guillermo del Toro, based on the comics by Mike Mignola. I haven't read the comics, and I've been told to watch the sequel, but I figured I should watch the first one first. I'm not that impressed, and honestly, I feel like 'Amazing Screw-On Head' was a lot better than 'Hellboy'. I know it's based on a comic, but it feels too much like it's trying to be a newer version of 'Men In Black', with demons that sound like velociraptors when they scream, and things like that, instead of aliens. It's even got an actor from 'Arrested Development' in it {Jeffrey Tambor in 'Hellboy', David Cross in 'Men In Black'}! John Hurt and David Hyde Pierce are kind of wasted in this film.

Funny Picture(s) I've Found:
My Mom will testify to this, I can tell you right now, even though I don't think I'm THAT loud when I go up the stairs. Maybe if she kept the door closed after she went to bed, she might not be woken up by me going up the stairs.

The Song Currently Stuck In My Head:
'All Along the Watchtower' by Jimi Hendrix. Heard the Dylan version, and wasn't that impressed. Nothing can compare to that bad ass guitar solo.

Hot Guy Of the Day
Desmond Harrington. I'd seen him in 'Wrong Turn' and thought he was pretty hot, but it was solidified when I saw him in season 3 of 'Dexter' yesterday. Good god damn.

Quote of the Day
-Spike: {As Rachel} "How can I thank you, you mysterious, black-clad hunk of a night thing?" {As Angel}"No need, little lady, your tears of gratitude are enough for me. You see, I was once a bad-ass vampire, but love and a pesky curse defanged me. Now I'm just a big, fluffy puppy with bad teeth." {Rachel steps closer to Angel; Angel steps back, warding her off with his hands.}"No, not the hair! Never the hair!" {As Rachel} "But there must be some way I can show my appreciation." {As Angel} "No — helping those in need's my job. And working up a load of sexual tension, and prancing away like a magnificent poof is truly thanks enough!" {As Rachel} "I understand. I have a nephew who's gay, so..." {As Angel}"Ah. Say no more. Evil's still afoot... and I'm almost out of that Nancy-boy hair gel that I like so much. Quickly, to the Angel-mobile — AWAY!"

Band You Should Be Listening To:

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Particularly the album Fever to Tell. 'Date With the Night' has a really good hook, and 'Maps' may be one of the best indie songs I've ever heard.

The mail to get here so I can watch either 'Rescue Dawn' or 'The Shawshank Redemption'.

"We're all pretty bizarre. Some of us are just better at hiding it, that's all."

Truer words have never been spoken, young Emilio Estevez. Title is from 'The Breakfast Club'.

The Day So Far
The first thing I typed to send to Twitter when I woke up at 8:25 this morning was, "Ugh." I feel that's a pretty good summation of waking up before 9 AM.

I kept dreaming about John Bender, but, you know, that's fine :3

Wizard of Oz is going to be in theatres in HD: http://www.movieweb.com/news/NEwGXFyBmBy6Az

I'm pretty pleased about this. Seeing the first 3 Star Wars movies in theatres when I was a kid was pretty awesome in and of itself, but this will be really really cool :)

Most Recent Movie(s) I've Seen At Home:

'From Hell', directed by The Hughes Brothers, based on the graphic novel by Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell. I loved this movie back in high school, mainly because I was interested in the Jack the Ripper murders {I still am}, but on the rewatch, eh. It's not doing it for me any more, so to speak, and I think I might get rid of it.

Grade: D

'The Breakfast Club', directed by John Hughes. I'd kept hearing this movie was a classic, but never saw it. I watched it yesterday before work, and oh MAN I loved it. Bender is my favourite character, though I liked all of them. The "basket case", Allison, got on my nerves a little in the beginning, but I warmed up to her. I ran out yesterday evening and bought it immediately, along with the third season of 'Dexter'.

Funny Picture(s) I've Found:

Seriously, this is how my mind is most of the time. It's kind of astounding, really. Except add, 'Random trivia about actors/movies/thousands of other quotes and history stuff' to the part about 'Office Space'.

The Song Currently Stuck In My Head:
'Love Will Tear Us Apart' by Joy Division. I really liked the cover by Fall Out Boy for a long time, but now I can't stand to hear anything but the original song.

Hot Guy Of the Day
Judd Nelson as John Bender from 'The Breakfast Club'. I wasn't initially going to put him as my Hot Guy of the Day, but since I dreamed about him, it's appropriate to put him, I think. And I mean, look at that cheeky grin and that hair. Mmmf.

Quote of the Day
-Chandler: "If I'm gonna be an old, lonely man, I'm gonna need a thing, you know, a hook, like that guy on the subway who eats his own face. So I figure I'll be Crazy Man with a Snake, y'know. Crazy Snake Man. And I'll get more snakes, call them my babies! Kids won't walk past my place, they will run. "Run away from Crazy Snake Man!" they'll shout!"

Anything Else I Can Think Of
Band You Should Be Listening To:

The Scissor Sisters. Like, seriously. If you're not listening to them, you HAVE to. I personally recommend 'I Can't Decide', 'Music Is the Victim', 'She's My Man' or 'Kiss You Off'.

I Want:
As a Star Wars fan, I don't know when I've seen anything more beautiful relating to the series. Aside from Han Solo, that is.

A Video You Need to See:
Everyone needs more 'Whose Line' in their lives.
